Hello from the road!
It’s retreat team two, back at it again—with mission moments and embarrassing stories galore. Honestly, this month has been both hard and deeply fulfilling. We’ve had the privilege to travel from the East Coast all the way to Leamington, Ontario. And every place visited between was such a blessing to see. While traveling the East Coast we got to do a lot of evening retreats and were both surprised and excited to find such a strong Catholic community at every stop. The youth weren’t just there because it was a school trip- they were there because they deeply desired to be.
Recently, we’ve also been able to try our hand at classroom visits -something that seemed daunting at first quickly became one of our favourite types of retreats. The ability to connect with a smaller group and truly get to know them in the time allotted was amazing and it was crazy to see God work in such little time. It truly showed us that if God wanted something to happen He would make it happen.
A beautiful moment at a retreat was on a Thursday- during prayer ministry, a boy said yes to being prayed over and after, he mentioned how he felt all these lies flee, and that he felt God reaching for him. He mentioned how his shoulders got lighter. When Saturday’s retreat came along, he showed up with his dad and his dad mentioned how that Thursday night they saw a big change in him and how he had so much joy and excitement to know about Christ and his faith. His parents also mentioned how, on Thursday night he didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay in that atmosphere with netters and the students.
All in all, God has been so good every step of the way. We feel so blessed to be living out the call that we felt from Him and we’ve all grown so much in both our faith and trust in Him. We’re all so excited to head home for Christmas and rest but we’re also eager for what’s after that. Merry Christmas and see you guys in the new year!
Signing out:)
