Our Community

Today's culture doesn't always support a community that brings youth to Christ. As a core value, we are convicted in the belief that community fosters a positive environment for growth, especially spiritual growth. Our NET community extends beyond that of team life on the road. Alumni, donors, host families, volunteers, staff families, clergy, and friends of the ministry all make up a part of our coast to coast NET family.

Without the sacrifice of missionaries, the mission of bringing youth to Christ would be impossible. Our alumni bring joy, support, and constancy to the greater NET community and provide the means to continue to spread the message of the gospel in new and greater ways. The men and women who have served in our ministry have gone on to become priests, sisters, nuns, mothers, fathers, doctors, accountants, teachers, faith-filled business people, musicians, carpenters, welders, and much more. Alumni bring their faith and joy not only to the men and women they work with, but to their neighbours and the community around them.

"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my sake, will receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life." Mt. 20:29

Host Families

NET Encounter (traveling) and iNFUSE (parish) team members all spend a year away from their own families to share their faith with young Catholics across the country. They can end up in a different city every night, and “host families” are the vital part of NET Canada that care for teams while they’re away from home.

Host families provide a place for team members to eat, pray and rest their heads each night, and many team members cite an experience at a host home as one of their favourite memories from the road. Many families welcome NET teams into their homes year after year, and stay in touch with the team members even after their time with NET has finished. We could not continue the mission if it weren't for the generosity of host families.

"Spending time with the NET team was such a wonderful opportunity, and I'm incredibly thankful I got to meet this awesome group of people! My family billeted some of the team members for the first time, and I'm SO glad we did. I truly connected with our two billets, Kaylene and Angela... they were such a pleasure to have around the house. Whether it was praying with them, laughing with them, sharing music with them, or simply chatting with these two great girls, their wonderful personalities and their purpose of sharing God's love brought such great joy in my life! Their faith shines so bright in all they say and do, which I enormously admire." ~ Female, 17, Kamloops, BC

"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives Him who sent me." Mt. 10:40

Volunteers who invest in NET are investing to save a young person's soul. Their talents support community and build up evangelization in Canada. They make a clear difference in lives. NET appreciates all those who help all over Canada and those close to home as well to meet our office needs! Their joy and partnership in the mission bring extra zeal to the community of NET. Volunteers often spend a couple of hours in a week, helping with tasks such as answering phones, entering information into our database, editing and organizing Encounter Day material, and seasonal landscape/gardening. We are always happy to enlist more volunteers, so if you're interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Morgan at

Staff Families

The families of NET staff are an integral part of the NET community, and (very obviously) a visible sign of the culture of life (there are more staff children than there are staff). They each have responded to the universal call to live as missionaries, and participate in this call by tangibly living and working with the mission of NET. Pray for them; there are many sacrifices to work for NET, but like the meaning of the word “sacrifice”, “to make holy”, any of them will tell you that it is a joy, blessing, and privilege to be a NET staff family.

Formational Households

NET formational households are a recent addition to the community, specifically the NET staff. There are currently two households in Ottawa. These households are the homes of our intern staff. Besides formation and community, the households outreach to the Ottawa area, welcoming people into our community, our ministry and to experience Christian fellowship. We hope to expand this concept of NET formational households across the country in the near future.
