The grandeur of the mountains, the deep blue oceans, the abundance of countless different trees, the blossoming flowers, unique sunsets every night, the bright twinkling stars in the black sky. I look at all of them and I’m in disbelief. Disbelief that something that is so magnificent and astounding can be called just “good” by its creator.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth, day and night, land and sea, plants and animals. He looked at them and called them good. See to me, this sounds crazy because I think they are so much more than just good! But God knew that His creation was not complete, He knew that something was missing.
And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness … so God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female.” Gen. 1:26-27. God then looked at everything he created and found it very good. Man is the pinnacle of God’s creation. The huge mountains, deep blue oceans, the abundance of countless different trees, the blossoming flowers, unique sunsets every night, the bright twinkling stars in the black sky. They are all beautiful and good, but they are not the pinnacle of God’s creation. We are. You and I. We are made out of His love and for His love. You are very good. Never forget who you are and whose you are, you are the creation of a God who loves you.
